Dear readers,
This is the last CIT News for 2023.
A year of transition in the CIT organisation, with a constant focus on delivering quality work.
In the passenger sector, the CIV WG contributions have been implemented on time, and some promising projects are now being followed up, such as the Universal Rail Ticket.
The work in the WG CIM is realized (implemented) in the supplements to the freight transport products, which are reflected in the CIM consignment note manual (GLV-CIM) and the CIT freight transport manual (GTM-CIT).
A study is currently being carried out on possible new CIT products for the substitute carrier and also two future CIT products are planned to take account of the latest developments in digitalisation and customs law.
The checklist for irregularities and the information sheet for the international transport of waste will be published in 2024 as well.Service facilities have also been the focus of attention this year, while the overhaul of the timetabling process is emerging as a key issue in the use of rail infrastructure. Our recent annual General Assembly demonstrated the good health of the organisation and outlined the 2024/2025 priorities for CIT work.
We are looking forward to another successful year in 2024, with continued support for our members and the organisation of the Bernese Days 2024 on 6 and 7 June.
The CIT team and myself wish you all season’s greetings.

Jubileum OTIF
OTIF held a dedicated event to mark a special anniversary: the CIM convention has been in force for 130 years and the CIV convention for 95 years. The common celebrations took place on 7 November in Bern. It was also an occasion to discuss the implementation of the two conventions and the potential future of the CIM.
