Luxembourg Rail Protocol extended scope
On 8 March 2024, the Luxembourg Rail Protocol to the Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment on Matters specific to Railway Rolling Stock (Rail Protocol) entered into force. The security interests are newly regulated in an international register. The registrar and the management of the international register are supervised by a Supervisory Authority, an international organisation with international legal personality based in Bern. OTIF acts as the Secretariat of the Supervisory Authority.
Now also the Republic of Paraguay has formally deposited its instrument of accession to the Luxembourg Rail Protocol as the fifth in-row ratification after Spain, Sweden, Luxembourg and Gabon and it will become effective as of 1st March 2025.
