Editorial
Dear readers,
Here we are, a step into the second half of 2024.
A time that brings hopes but also challenges for the rail sector.
The upcoming changes include new governance of the European Union after the recent elections and a possible revision of the CIM Uniform Rules.
It is CIT task to assess the impact and potential solutions regarding the future standards on your behalf.
This issue of CIT News summarizes recent events and meetings and also covers our priorities and upcoming actions.
Some product updates have now gone live on our website, such as the supplements to the CIM manuals for freight transport and wagon law (GLV-CIM, GLW-CUV and GTM-CIT).
Besides these regular updates, we are also now making new documents available, such as our new Guidance on the EU claim form for Passenger Traffic, but also three new products in freight transport. In future also the Claims Handling Agreement (AIV) would be updated due to data protection topics.
Recent cases include a look at possible compensation claims for repair costs on wagons.
We will continue to keep you informed of our upcoming events such as the Passenger Claims Conference and the next freight wagon workshop. The CIT team will be delighted to welcome you to these events.
We also provide a summary of recent meetings and events such as our internal working groups and committees, and also a focus on the CIM and CIV sessions at the most recent Berner Tage 2024 and the recent seminar on waste transport.
As history also builds the future, we remind you of key dates in the past of the CIT.
Wishing you a well-deserved rest this summer,
Gilles Mugnier

Berner Tage 2024 CIV Session
The Passenger Traffic afternoon session on 6 June moderated by Isabelle Saintilan (Eurostar and Chair of the CIV Committee) focused on the question whether the current legal framework in passenger rail traffic is still fit for purpose or if the developments from a business perspective require an update. The revival of night trains including the new organizational and legal challenges was one of the examples in the spotlight of the discussions.
