CIT and Ast & Fischer AG sign cooperation agreement for ticketing

CIT and Ast & Fischer AG sign cooperation agreement

Following the integration of Aeschbacher AG into Ast & Fischer, the CIT and Ast & Fischer AG signed an agreement in October 2025 for the continued servicing of the CIT Security Background 2012 (passenger transport tickets) and freight transport documents (consignment notes).

The CIT Security Background 2012

The CIT Security Background 2012 is the standardised security paper that the CIT licenses to its members for use in international and domestic tickets and other transport documents. Designed to provide a high level of protection against counterfeiting, the CIT Security Background 2012 incorporates advanced features such as special colours, microtext, hidden security elements and stock control numbers. The design is owned by the CIT and registered with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

Transition from Aeschbacher AG to Ast & Fischer AG

Since the introduction of the security paper, the CIT has cooperated with the Swiss printer Aeschbacher AG, which provided technical support, data management and archiving services for a ticket production. As of October 2025, these tasks have been transferred to Ast & Fischer AG, following its takeover of Aeschbacher’s print, ticketing and publishing operations.

Continuity for CIT members

The agreement ensures that CIT members have continued access to the services necessary for the production and secure handling of the CIT Security Background 2012. Ast & Fischer AG will now be responsible for preserving and managing the printing data for passenger tickets as well as for preserving, archiving and managing the data for freight transport documents (consignment notes).

The CIT would like to thank Aeschbacher AG for their reliable and professional cooperation and support over the past decade. At the same time, the CIT is pleased to welcome Ast & Fischer AG as a new partner and looks forward to many years of successful cooperation. This agreement reaffirms the CIT’s commitment to providing its members with secure, high-quality and internationally recognised ticketing standards.
