CIT – UIC Workshop on Wagon Law on 7 October 2026 in Bern
The CIT – UIC Workshop on “COTIF/CUV UR and GCU: market needs and the future of wagon law” will be held in Bern (CIT Headquarters, Saal A) on Wednesday 7 October 2026.
Join leading representatives from the rail freight sector, European institutions and international railway organisations for a targeted workshop dedicated to the future of wagon use in Europe. The programme will address the revision of the COTIF CUV Uniform Rules, the interaction between COTIF and EU legislation, and the strategic vision of GCU 2030 for the multilateral use of wagons. Through expert presentations and interactive roundtables with stakeholders from ERA, FOT, UIC, UIP, ERFA and the European Commission, participants will explore key challenges and opportunities related to governance, efficiency, digitalisation and regulatory alignment. The workshop will provide a unique platform for dialogue, exchange of perspectives and collaborative brainstorming on how to create a fit-for-purpose wagon environment that strengthens competitiveness and increases the market share of rail freight.
This event is open and free of charge to CIT members and UIC members. It will end with a buffet and aperitif at the end of the day.
You can find the “Save the Date” for the workshop on the CIT website: https://cit-rail.org/en/freight-traffic/
The invitation with the final programme will be sent by the CIT General Secretariat in July 2026.
